During the last year, the business has experienced more challenges than I've come across around my 3 decades experience. In the past I have seen sharp price increases, and I have witnessed several shortages, and delivery problems on account of resin allocations coming from resin manufacturers. This is the first occasion I have seen all these issues at one time.

The two of these resins are in short supply. The PTFE Sheeting product PTFE (TFE) and PVDF manufacturing requires a mineral called Fluorspar that is mined in Mongolia and China. The worldwide need for this mineral has grown significantly, and the supply has tightened. PTFE materials have high temperature resistance, excellent chemical resistance and really low co-efficient of friction (slippery) and is utilised throughout dozens of purposes from non-stick fry pots and pans to ptfe tape for use at home. This particular mineral is actually the essential raw material within the production of fluoropolymers, fluorolubricants and quite a few refrigerants.This surge in demand paired with general shortage of raw materials is mainly responsible for a dramatic price increase (almost double within the past year), shortages, and we expect these two factors to keep at it in the near future.
